This morning, on the way to work, I heard claire mccaskill talking about the need for compromise on the debt ceiling solution.

That's great, except for a couple of minor details. We, the conservatives in this Country, have allowed our elected officials to "compromise" us into this situation in the first place. If we had forced our government to stick by the conservative principles that this Country was founded on, we wouldn't have $14 TRILLION dollars worth of debt. We would have zero debt.

And second, there is no compromising with democrats. It's like trying to make a deal with a rattlesnake, even if he only bites you little bit you are still snakebit.

The deal that Boehner is signing us up for is a bad one. And Boehner is starting to sound like a democrat too. He says there are no tax increases in this deal. Well, wait a minute, part of the "savings" in this thing counts on not renewing the Bush tax cuts. Ok, well, no matter how democrats want to slice it, that is a tax increase. Back during the Bush presidency, George W. decided to let us keep more of our own money, our money, the money we earn when we go to work, not the fucking government's money. The government doesn't have any money, they have what we pay in taxes. It is ours, not theirs. There is quite a bit of confusion in washington about that money. We entrust them to spend that money to protect us, give us good roads and provide the BASIC services we need to live our lives. It is not their money. I can't say that loud enough, often enough.

Anyway, since Bush allowed us to keep more of our own money, if the democrats decide not to renew those tax cuts again, it is a tax increase, they will be taking more of our money.

Boehner, reid, pelosi and obama can describe it in any way they like, but they can't make it anything other than more taxes.

So, if claire mccaskill thinks that compromise is going to get us out of the looming financial disaster that is right over the horizon, she is a dumbass. The Republicans had a decent plan in Cut, Cap and Balance. It's not a perfect plan, but it is several steps in the right direction. The current plan that will be voted on today has NO REAL SPENDING CUTS, none. It reduces the growth of future spending, but even that isn't effective for two years.

claire mccaskill, this line of thinking, or lack of thinking, is one of the main reasons you will be unemployed in 2012...

And still the debt ceiling debate drags on...

It's funny really, no matter what plan anyone comes up with obama threatens to veto it. That would be ok, except he has no plan of his own. I guess it's easy to criticize the plan of others if they can't return the favor.

Of all the current "plans" being discussed, the "CUT,CAP and BALANCE is the best for the future of our Country. There are actual, real world spending cuts that take effect NOW, not ten years down the road.

The plan that Boehner and his group talked about today is ok, but it doesn't actually stop the current free for all by the democrats. It doesn't even reduce spending by enough to cover the built in increase for next year.

obama is only interested in one thing, raising taxes. Without that piece he will never fully agree to any of the plans. We have made our voices heard today, thousands and thousands of calls flooded the congress switchboard. Of course, both sides will claim that the calls were in their favor.

We have to let these people know that the days of kicking the can down the road are over. Something needs to be done NOW. Our Country is on the very brink of becoming Greece. obama has no plan to deal with our debt crisis. He won't support the plans of those who truly do have the best interests of our Country in mind. His inability to lead proves that he should just get out of the way...

Who the hell is martin o'malley?

The democrat governor of Maryland claims that the Republicans are holding up the debt ceiling talks to damage the economy and ruin obama's chances in the 2012 election.

Are you shitting me? Where has this dumbass been for the last two and a half years? obama and his gang of thugs have done more damage to this economy than any president in the history of our Country. They have even done more damage than the peanut farmer, jimmy carter. obama is destined to be known as the worst president in history.

Maybe o'malley should do a little research before he says things that make him look like an idiot. The economy is ALREADY in bad shape, thanks to obama. There is very little Republicans could do at this point to make it worse. There is though, a lot they could do to make it better. But not by themselves. And the democrats don't care about anything but spending money they don't have and their own re-election.

o'malley needs to take a trip out of Maryland and see the rest of the Country. He needs to take a look at the current unemployment rate. Not the bullshit numbers that the obama administration are putting out, but the actual number of unemployed people. While the posted number is 9.2% the actual number is closer to 15% or higher. And when you figure in the number of people who are underemployed, it is catastrophic.

This is how the entire election season is going to go. democrats, even ones you have never heard of like o'malley, will try to blame Republicans for all the troubles of the world. They have nothing to run on, nothing. All that's left is to try and distract us from the real issues. It won't work on me, how about you?

obama the centrist?

As the debt ceiling talks continue, obama is trying to make himself appear a centrist. Like everything else, it's a lie. He isn't a centrist, never has been, never will be. But what he is though, is a liar. He will make promises to the Republicans, suck them in with seeming willingness to work with them, and then he will refuse to follow through with the vows he made.

These guys have seen it before. But will they remember that he has screwed them in the past? If the Republicans fall for his bullshit, we will all pay the price for their stupidity.

These guys need to stick to their principals. For once, they need to force the democrats to be the ones to compromise. Up until now, the compromise has all been on the Republican side, and they always get taken in the deal.

Boehner needs to stand firm, but will he? So far he has. We will see what the next few days bring...

Debt ceiling debate still on...

It appears that the Republicans are still refusing to give in to obama's demad for new taxes. And damn well they should, since many of them were elected because of their pledge not to raise taxes.

Have I told you lately that obama is an asshole? If not, then, obama is an asshole. It's funny how he critcizes a Republican idea until he can act like it is something he came up with. He absolutely crucified Paul Ryan over his plan earlier this year, but suddenly obama thinks raising the eligibility age for medicare is a good idea.

Why is it that the only plan a democrat can come up with is to raise our taxes? Why don't they have any ability to think outside of the box? Raising taxes will further damage our already fragile economy and won't even begin to make a dent in the deficit. These people need to stop spending money they don't have and reduce the spending they are already doing. Cutting redundant and stupid programs would also help put us back on the right path.

Common sense isn't really a common trait in washington. We need to elect people that have less millions and more sense...

Republicans put the brakes on the debt ceiling talks...

As you know, there is a bi-partisan group of politicians trying to figure out a way to raise the debt ceiling. The Republicans want to cut spending by at least the amount the debt ceiling will be raised. But, in true democrat fashion, the other side wants to increase taxes AND increase spending! WTF?

At this point, if I were a Republican on the committee, there wouldn't be an increase in the debt ceiling at all. Refusing to raise the debt ceiling comes with it's own, built in spending cuts. In order to keep from defaulting on our debt we would have to reduce spending.

Almost every day you hear about some stupid government program that costs tax payers millions or even billions of dollars and accomplishes little or nothing. Why don't these bonehead politicians start by cutting these programs. In the grand scheme of things, a few million dollars isn't much, but all of those millions add up to billions. It would also show us, the people who actually pay the bills, that these assholes give a damn. Every time I hear about my tax dollars being wasted on some idiot program, it pisses me off. The people that we elect don't give a damn about being good stewards of our money. They care about the next election.

We need to elect people who care more about this Country than getting re-elected. If these people got into office and did the right thing, they wouldn't have to worry about the next election, it would be a guarantee. Instead the pander to lobbyists and fringe groups, hoping that throwing money around will make them popular. I guess it works. Look at some of the dumbasses that keep getting re-elected, like charlie rangel and nancy pelosi.

Obama Campaign Sends Around Misleading DNC Video on GOP Debate

I didn't watch the debate last night. It slipped my mind that it was happening. I have read a few things about it today. From what I have heard and read, anyone on the stage would be better than obama, but that's not a surprise.

It was a bit of a shock to see an article sort of supporting Republicans on the ABCNews site. This probably won't make it to the broadcast news though.

If you are surprised that the democrats are editing and trying to play stupid games, you must be new. This is the only thing democrats have going for them, stupid tricks. They can't run on any kind of record, unless record unemployment is in these days. Be prepared for all kinds of dumbassery from these clowns.

At last night’s Republican debate, the seven candidates talked about unemployment, taxes, regulations, former Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s talk of a goal of 5% GDP growth, the individual mandate in the health care bill, the Independent Medicare Advisory Board, welfare reform, the Tea Party, currency policy, the National Labor Relations Board, Boeing, TARP, the auto bailout, Rep. Paul Ryan’s Medicare proposal, former Gov. Mitt Romney’s health care program in Massachusetts, raising the debt ceiling, raising the retirement age for Social Security, the role of religion in public life, the 10th amendment, Libya, Afghanistan, and so on.

But President Obama’s 2012 campaign is sending out a DNC video suggesting the candidates spoke only about sharia law, an anti-gay-marriage amendment, repealing health care, Sarah Palin, and the space program.

“You should watch this,” says campaign manager Jim Messina in the email to supporters, “if you or anyone you know is wondering where the leading GOP candidates want to go, this clip makes it clear. The first big Republican debate last night was like a time machine. They want to go back to the failed policies of the past that caused the economic crisis in the first place. They want to go back and reopen every settled debate that they've lost over the last few years -- on the health care law, on ‘Don't Ask, Don't Tell,’ and on reforming Wall Street's abuses. They even want to turn back the clock and end Medicare as we know it.”

Messina’s general argument that the candidates want to repeal many Obama policies – health care, Wall Street regulations, and so on – is correct.

But the video, which Messina calls a “highlight reel” and the DNC titled “What in the world are they talking about?” selectively uses clips from the 2-hour forum suggesting that the candidates were focused on idiotic issues, or battles from the past, when all of the topics the video hammers the Republicans for talking about were ones they were asked about at the forum.

75% Support Showing Photo ID At The Polls

Another little gem from Rasmussen. It makes sense that democrat politicians don't want to ensure that people are legally able to vote, but a majority of their constituents do. democrat politicians don't care who votes or how many times as long as they vote for a democrat. You can bet that if the majority of the voter fraud was getting Republicans elected it would be a different story from those guys.

Support remains high for requiring voters to show photo identification before being allowed to cast their ballots. An increasing number of states across the country are putting that requirement into law.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 75% of Likely U.S. Voters believe voters should be required to show photo identification such as a driver’s license before being allowed to vote. Just 18% disagree and oppose such a requirement.

Eighty-five percent (85%) of Republicans support a photo ID requirement at the polls, as do 77% of voters not affiliated with either major party and 63% of Democrats. But then support for such a law is high across virtually all demographic groups.

Supporters of photo ID laws say they will prevent fraud at the polls; opponents insist the laws will discourage many including minorities and older Americans from voting.

By a 48% to 29% margin, voters think that letting ineligible people vote is a bigger problem than preventing legitimate voters from casting a ballot.

"weinergate"... the saga continues.

This whole "weinergate" thing is getting pretty old. But it's a little interesting watching it play out. It's almost as if the democrats are becoming aware that the entire Country is sick to death of the double standard. Many big shot democrats are calling on weiner to resign, as he should.

Then there are those that say it is up to his constituents to decide. That's bullshit. While it is his constituents that elect him, he votes on issues that affect every one of us. He is a scumbag. He lied. He has no morals and very poor judgement. He needs to resign, he should have already done it.

Him attempting to hold on to his seat is pathetic. It makes him look like an idiot, but not quite as much as the pictures of his junk all over the internet.

In my head, I just can't help but imagine the firestorm that would have occured if he were a Republican. He would have already been forced out. The leadership of his party would have seen to that. I'm not saying Republicans are guilt free, they aren't. They have had their fair share of stupid scandals, but they fix it, quick. And even then, the dead horse is beaten to a bloody pulp.

If the democratic leadership allows him to remain in office it will be a mistake. weiners credibility is done, the rest of the democrats still have a chance to make this right and save some dignity of their own...

Thanks obama, 30% of employers say they will drop health coverage for employees...

Thanks to obama and the democrat idiots (and some scumbag rinos), 30% of employers say they will drop health care benefits for their employees after obamacare is implemented.

After this reposrt came out, obama and his gang of thugs rebutted it. And then they got mitt romney involved in a round about way by talking about the results of mini-obamacare (or romneycare) in Massachusetts.

The report from McKinsey and Company makes it sound as if many employers would drop coverage for employees but offset that with higher salaries or other benefits.

The obamacare screwings never end. We will be feeling the pain from it for many years to come...

Wait, what? Did I read that right? The Republicans were the first major political party to include black folks? I guess since democrats were busy forming the ku klux klan about then, it really didn't fit into theit agenda.

House votes against raising the debt ceiling...

Yesterday the house voted against raising the debt ceiling. Even many democrats showed up in the NAY column. The final tally was 318 against and 97 in favor.

Now the negotiations begin. What kind of deal can the Republicans get in order to vote again and raise the debt ceiling. But here is my thought, why negotiate at all. Refusing to raise the debt ceiling comes with built in spending cuts. There is no way we can allow our government to default on our debt. Without raising the debt ceiling, spendings cuts, big ones, would be the best way to keep from defaulting.

Besides, making a deal with obama is a no win situation. Even if you get a decent deal he doesn't honor it. He has proven that in the past. He is a liar and you can't make a deal with a liar...

DNC Chair: Republicans Believe Illegal Immigration 'Should be a Crime'

Maybe illegal alien is just a catchy name. I don't think so though, and mainly because of this:

Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who: 

Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or 

Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or

Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;


has committed a federal crime.

Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense

Maybe the fact that IT IS ILLEGAL TO ENTER OUR COUNTRY ILLEGALLY has made some feel that illegal immigration is a crime. And, yes, some of those people are Republicans.

The new head of the dnc, debbie wasserman schultz, is proving to be quite a dumbass. If she weren't infecting the already sickened minds of democrats this stupid comment would be funny. But it's not. It just shows how out of touch the leaders of the democratic party are.

And wasserman schultz's comment about foreign cars, while she drives one herself, shows the hypocrisy that is the democrat party...

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D.-Fla.), chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, denounced Republicans last week for believing illegal immigration “should in fact be a crime.”

“I think the president was clearly articulating that his position--the Democratic position--is that we need comprehensive immigration reform,” said Wasserman Schultz at a Christian Science Monitor Breakfast on May 26.

“We have 12 million undocumented immigrants in this country that are part of the backbone of our economy and this is not only a reality but a necessity," she said. "And that it would be harmful--the Republican solution that I’ve seen in the last three years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries and that in fact it should be a crime and we should arrested them all.”

The comment has drawn attention among conservative commentators and bloggers. During the comments, the chairwoman referred to legislation in 2006 by Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) that would increase border enforcement and make illegal immigration a criminal offense instead of a civil matter.

However, the Senate bill immunized illegal aliens from being prosecuted for document fraud, a felony, and did not stop the practice of allowing illegal aliens eventually granted legal residency to go back and claim credit with the Social Security Administration for work they did as an illegal. These provisions were in sections 601 and 614 of the McCain-Kennedy comprehensive immigration reform bill.

At the same Christian Science Monitor breakfast, Wasserman Schultz said, “If it were up to the candidates for president on the Republican side, we would be driving foreign cars; they would have let the auto industry in America go down the tubes.”

The Hill newspaper quickly reported that Wasserman Schultz owns a 2010 Infiniti FX35, a Japanese car whose parent company is Nissan. The newspaper cited Florida motor vehicle records.

Recently during a speech, the new head of the dnc, debbie wasserman schultz, said the the Republican party is anti-women.

This was about the same time that some msnbc jackass that I have never heard of called Laura Ingraham a slut on his radio show. Wait, what? I thought it was the Republicans that were anti-women.

It must have been Republicans that unleashed vile verbal assults against Sarah Palin. Nope, that was democrats.

Maybe the Republicans were the ones bad mouthing Michele Bachmann. Well, actually that was democrats too.

How about the attacks against Carly Fiorino and Meg Whitman in california? Umm, that's gonna be the democrats again.

Surely it must be Republicans that are constantly calling Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter horrible names. That one is democrats too.

Do you get my point on this? democrats have nothing. The economy is in shambles. obama is an idiot on foreign policy and everything else. Gas prices are through the roof. Actual unemployment is still over 10%. obamacare is even more unpopular now than when it was forced on us. The democrats can't run on anything of substance, so they make stuff up. They do what democrats do best, lie.

Before you believe anything that comes out of the mouth of a democrat, consider the current state of our Country. Also consider your current condition. Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago? I know I'm not. I'm spending more than twice as much on gas as I was then. I have fewer freedoms than I did then.

wasserman schultz is another professional democrat politician. She will carry on in the typical democrat fashion, bending and breaking the truth and the rules to gain voters that will only wind up diasappointed...

democrats won't even vote for obama's budget...

Yesterday I told you that the democrats and some fake republicans voted against the Paul Ryan budget plan. I guess they also voted on obama's budget. It failed with ZERO votes in favor. Which is kind of funny, but it has to make you think about the strategy of the democrats.

They won't vote for any budget. Hmmm, a couple of reasons come to mind for that. First, with no budget, there are virtually no limits to what they can spend, especially if we allow these clowns to keep raising the debt limit.

Second, they would have to make a commitment to stay within certain spending levels, something they could be held accountable for and something that could be pinned directly to them. Now, with no actual budget for 2011, they can spend what they want and blame who they want. Regardless of the fact that democrats have controlled the purse strings for the last 6 years, they still find ways to blame Republicans for their horrible spending habits.

democrats never want to do anything that they can be held accountable for. Their standard operating procedure is to remain noncommital and blame someone else.

Even bill clinton has ackowledged that something is going to have to be done to save medicare. The Paul Ryan plan may not be perfect, but it is a step in the direction of saving medicare for the future. If we stand by and watch, like the democrats seem to want to do, medicare will be insolvent and unavailable for anyone in a matter of years, not decades, years. democrats could keep it on life support by raising our taxes in a major way, but that would require accountability on their part.

democrats continue to lie about the Ryan plan, making up awful things with nothing to back it up. It is a scare tactic with no basis in reality. But it leaves those supporting the plan on the defensive, trying to make their case. But the volume and the shrillness of the democrats drowns out the sanity of the Republicans. It also doesn't help much that the media hangs on every word pelosi, reid and obama utter...

Senate Dems Lose Vote on Repeal of Tax Breaks for Oil Companies Amid Pain at Pump

Why do democrats keep calling these tax breaks subsidies? Why do they keep neglecting to mention that many other industries in this Country get the same tax breaks? Why do they fail to inform us that they are picking on FIVE oil companies? They aren't demanding that these tax breaks be taken away from ALL oil companies, just the five that they don't like. Why don't they admit that if these tax breaks are taken away the price of gasoline will rise in accordance?

These big five oil companies pay about 40% in taxes, even with the tax breaks they get, billions of dollars. But all the democrats see is the dollar figures, never mind that there are lots of companies that make a bigger profit percentage, just not the dollar amount. The democrats also refuse to mention that out of those profits the oil companies pay for research and development and exploration. It's not like they drill a hole in the ground and oil pops out. They spend huge amounts of money figuring out exactly where the oil is.

And lets also keep in mind that the oil industry employs thousands and thousands of people. Every time obama and his gang of thugs make it harder for oil companies to drill, Americans lose their jobs. The oil industry sufffers every day along the Gulf Coast because obama refuses to allow them to drill.

obama recently said he is going to increase drilling in the Gulf, off of Alaska, and off of California. It's bullshit. It is an election stunt. He has no intention of EVER allowing our Country to become energy independent. Don't fall for it people...

As expected, Senate Democrats lost a key test vote Tuesday on a bill that would have repealed $20 billion worth of tax subsidies for the nation's five largest oil companies, falling 8 votes short of a win.

The 52-48 vote came as a majority of Americans say in a new Gallup poll that high gas prices are hurting their finances.

Nearly seven in 10 Americans said high gas prices are causing financial hardship for their families. More than half said to compensate, they have made major changes, ranging from shorter trips to cutting back on vacation travel. More than a 1,000 people responded to the poll that has a 4 percent margin of error.

The national average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.94, according to AAA, and Democrats were looking to exploit that high price with Tuesday's vote.

Last week, Democrats grilled oil executives on the tax breaks that they say are not needed and President Obama announced Saturday he was directing his administration to ramp up U.S. oil production by extending leases in the Gulf of Mexico and off Alaska's coast.

Democrats have been touting a new report by the Joint Economic Committee found that eliminating the tax breaks would reduce the deficit by $21 billion over 10 years and encourage alternative energy and energy efficiency.

"This new JEC report makes clear that there are ways to bring down the deficit without harming our economic recovery," said Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., chairman of the committee. "By repealing unnecessary tax breaks to the major integrated oil companies, we can reduce the deficit by more than $20 billion and speed the move to a clean energy economy without impacting prices at the pump."

But Republicans opposed the bill, saying it won't relieve pain at the pump, a conclusion also reached by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who said on the Senate floor Tuesday that "it won't affect gas prices at all."

Reid then went on to say the opposite.

"We have to do something about the exorbitant gas prices, and the best way to start with that is to do something about the five big oil companies getting subsidies they don't need," he said.

Gas Bills Bloat Congress

What kind of an idiot would even begin to think taking tax breaks away from oil companies and giving them to "green energy" companies would lower gas prices? That's right, a democrat idiot. If you are looking for a sure fire way to raise the cost of a gallon of gas, take away any tax breaks to the oil companies. What they will pay in taxes will just be tacked on to the price we pay at the pump.

Increasing production is the answer to lower gas prices. And these clowns need to do something fast. Most of us can't afford what we are paying now, and any further hikes will be close to catastrophic for many.

It's sounds like instead of anybody doing anything, congress will just sit around blaming each other and hope for political points out of the deal.

GOP and Dems Trade Shots Over Gas Bills, But Which Plan Would Lower Costs? 

“What is more likely to lower gas prices: Raising taxes on oil companies or increasing oil production?”

With debt and budget negations stalled for the time being, members of Congress will instead turn to the business of assigning political blame over high gas prices.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is expected this week to push forward a Democratic plan that would transfer tax breaks for American oil companies to approved green-energy firms.

House Speaker John Boehner, meanwhile, will bring up a series of votes on a suite of Republican legislation aimed at breaking President Obama’s clampdown on offshore drilling permits.

Even as recession fears force commodity prices downward, gas prices are expected to continue to rise above $4-per-gallon. Uncertainty abroad, rising global demand, a shattered U.S. dollar and decreased domestic production all mean prices will continue to increase for hard-pressed American consumers.

When it comes to high gas prices, the House Republican plan would do little to bring down short-term prices. Even if Senate Democrats and President Obama were to go along with the drilling, baby, drilling, it would take months for the new crude to hit refineries and increase domestic supplies. Any short-term reduction would come from speculators jumping out on the bet of increased future production.

The Democratic proposal, however, would almost certainly raise gasoline prices as companies compensated for $4 billion in increased federal taxes. The plan proposed by President Obama and subsequently championed by Reid and Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., is part of a multi-year effort to encourage green energy (in part by keeping energy prices high).

Last year, America’s largest oil company, Exxon, paid about $10 billion in federal taxes and made a profit of about $30 billion. If the tax bill had been $11 billion, it is unlikely that Exxon shareholders would have wanted the money to come out of profits. The money instead would have come from consumers.

While Democrats are betting that consumers would feel good about seeing politicians sticking it to big oil in the form of tax increases, American drivers (and voters) would likely understand the basic economics of taxation. Plus, gas prices are helping to stunt the already puny recovery. For middle-class consumers, high gas prices mean disposable income vanishes.

But the House would never let the Democratic plan through, either.

The real issue in Washington is about the budget deals that continue behind closed doors. The Gang of Six is shrouded in doubt as Gang member and Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad is threatening to start pushing his own debt-reduction proposal.

Democrats are stalled on how to proceed on obtaining an increase in the federal government’s $14.3 trillion debt limit, and Republicans are mostly waiting to see how that plays out before getting too jiggy about a 2012 budget proposal.

Until the dam breaks, trying to score points on gas prices will have to suffice.

House Bucks Obama: Bill Jump-Starts Gulf Oil Production

The cost of going to work every day has doubled for my family. I'm sure you all have the same experience. If gas prices continue to rise, it almost won't be worth going to work. democrats don't understand that out here in the real world, these things have consequences. When the government refuse to allow our oil comapnies to do their job, we all pay for it. We pay for it at the pump and we pay for it in national security concerns. It just doesn't seem like a great idea to me to buy oil from countries that hate us. How exactly, is that good business?

"Drill baby Drill" does make a good bumper sticker. And American companies drilling oil in our own Country is good, sound, energy policy. Buying oil from hugo chavez is poor policy...

Republicans are banking on a measure approved by the House on Thursday to lower gasoline prices by accelerating offshore lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico.

“The situation we find ourselves in today is detrimental to everyone who goes to the pump to fill their cars,” said Rep. Rob Bishop (R.-Utah). “The cost of gas increases, and continues to increase because of the inaction of this administration.”

The de facto moratorium on offshore drilling imposed by President Obama after the Deepwater Horizon tragedy last year has forced the importation of an additional 130,000 barrels of oil a day to make up for the lost production, Republicans say.

Democrats argued that the bill would lead to future environmental tragedies and insisted that more oil is being safely produced under President Obama than in President Bush’s administration.

Republicans countered that Americans are expected to spend an additional $700 on gasoline this year.

“The administration’s strategy is to cut the standard of living … and beg Saudi Arabia to be nice to us,” Bishop said.

The legislation is the first of several measures Republicans will act on in the next week, and imposes strict time lines on the Obama administration to sell leases in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore from Virginia.

President Obama has since lifted the moratorium, but few permits are actually being approved, Republicans said.

“Unfortunately, the administration turned the tragedy into a catastrophe … one that destroys jobs,” Bishop said.

HR 1230, the Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act, passed the House by a vote of 266 to 149, with 233 Republicans and 33 Democrats supporting the measure.

The Office of Management and Budget said in a statement that it opposes the legislation because it would undermine environmental protections and workplace safety.

The key measures are sponsored by Rep. Richard “Doc” Hastings (R.-Wash.), chairman of the House Energy Committee. The House on Tuesday will vote on HR 1229, which ends the moratorium and establishes new safety reviews.

“Continued tensions in the Middle East serve as a reminder that increased American energy production is as much of a national security issue as it is about jobs and lowering gasoline prices,” Hastings said.

“The United States has the most energy resources in the world and the American people are demanding that we utilize them to lower energy prices, create jobs, and make American less dependent on unstable foreign energy,” Hastings said.

Democrats said the measure reinforces the “myth” that America can drill itself out of foreign dependency.

“ 'Drill baby drill’ may look good on a bumper sticker, but it is not a sound energy policy,” said Jared Polis (D.-Colo.).

“This does not make filling up at the pump any more affordable to Americans at all,” Polis said.

A little bit of fishing...

My Bride had another brother in town this weekend.

If you recall, I posted pictures last week from a trip to the range with her youngest brother.

The brother that was here this weekend brought his Bride and two little boys. My Bride decided we needed to treat them to a little fishing. We stocked our pond two springs ago and we have only fished it once prior to this weekend. Both occasions were catch and release. The pond is part of my food stores for the revolution or zombie apocolypse, whichever comes first.

Here is a sample of what we were catching. If the Brother-in-Law sends me his pictures I will try to post them too.

These are ome nice sized fish. We caught 8 or 10 of these and then a bunch of Blue Gill. It was fun for the little guys. And how about that shirt? One of my favorites. I wear it when ever I can, especially if there will be democrats around...
